Uptown Renovation

The renovation and addition for a growing family expands an existing home from 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom to 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms.  The renovation includes a 2nd floor expansion, pool and cabana.  The existing home was a modest mid-century low-rise home with setbacks that are more typical of a suburban residence with a large front yard.  The front renovation materially expands the mass of the front porch in the form of a terraced planter and low-rise stair.  The goal is for the front expanded mass of the building is create a more welcoming presence in it’s urban context by being more closely aligned with the street edge (as other properties in the neighborhood are).  The rear of the property integrates a Pool and Cabana.  The Cabana would have a full bathroom, an outdoor kitchen, sitting area, storage and a place to conceal the pool equipment.  The pool itself would be partially in shade under the cabana.  Materially the interior finishes from the communal spaces in the rear would wrap toward the outside and cabana to provide an expanded visual interpretation of the living space.
